Tree Tops, from the series Somewhere in Israel
I was interested in this series because I am drawn to all the shapes in the photograph, they keep my eyes moving around the photo. I could not find how this photo was made but if I had to guess a photograph was taken, then manipulation with some chemical. I am not drawn to the variety of color, it is a little nauseating to me, but I am still interested in the concept.
The love the composition of this piece. the color can be a bit distracting, but for me they work in that the green in the trees pop from orange red landscape as if it is an explosion of life.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a pretty interesting image. This video of him speaking about his work and process is really interesting:

He's using images off the Internet from places he hasn't been, or places in conflict. I personally think it's pretty interesting how the use of color - these bright nauseating images - do provoke a sense of apocalypse or war.
Thanks!
